Deevatige Salaam | India News – Times of India

BENGALURU: For centuries, priests have been performing ‘aarti’ every evening in temples. As part of the ritual, a temple priest will hold two hand-held torches (deevatige) and bow before the deity in front of the temple’s main door.
A similar service is done to other deities on the premises of the temple, besides offering the same to the custodians of the temple (kings or administrators).
